Veterans and their surviving spouses, 65 years and older, may be entitled to a tax-free benefit called Aid and Attendance. The program is designed to provide monetary assistance to those veterans who served our country during a time of war and are now in need of aid or assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as eating, bathing, dressing or other activities of daily living.
This benefit is not dependent on service-related injuries or being in combat. It does require active duty during specific periods of war or conflict.
